Worked Up

Two very promising signs that I'm having a mental meltdown...
  1. I cook, anything and everything, knowing full well that most of it will turn out disastrously and ....
  2. I blog like a mad women about all my cooking experiments or anything else that crosses my mind.
Today I decided to work out a little anxiety and make some sourdough bread. I must admit I have never had much success with the baking department, although it's never stopped me from trying. I think I've tried baking bread once and it did turn out disastrously.
I have however had so much fun lately with baking sourdough pizza crusts, that I thought I could make the leap and try bread.

Loaf number one
The first thing I learned was never leave your rising dough where your hungry two year old can reach it, or it comes out misshaped like this...Lesson number two learned, don't place bread on top rack!
Loaf number two
Turned out a little better.

All in all the bread turned out edible and I learned a few things along the way. I was however immensely disappointed when I tasted the bread and it was totally flavorless. I can only blame my sourdough starter on this one, it smells sour, so don't ask me why it doesn't taste it.
I served my edible but rather flavorless bread with some chicken crock pot Alfredo and jumbo portobello stuffed ravioli.
After I figure out how to cook, maybe I'll take a course on presentation, but for now, you're all stuck looking at my unappealing, but delicious dinners!

The only way to get better is to practice, practice. Your second loaf looks great!

We LOVE your crock-pot alfredo recipe! It's become one of our favorites ever since you brought it over for dinner that one night!

I am telling you EVERY thing I cook even if it comes from a bag in the freezer and you are just reheating it..it somehow comes out wrong. To me you are like a chef lady..I would never even attempt these recipes..but I sure would like to eat 'em! :)
