Dailymile

Once upon a time I started running.
And then I quit, and then I started back up again, and then I quit....About 7 months ago I started back up again. I don't proclaim to have done it very consistently, but I am doing it...So when the *H-E-Double Hockey Sticks* is this going to get any easier?
I can barely keep up with the treadmill at a 4.5 mile an hour pace(14 minute miles) and I spend the entire 30 minutes hoping every second, is the last. 30 mind numbing, heart pounding, minutes I spend clinging to the hope that maybe this time it'll get easier, maybe this time I'll improve!
After thirty minutes of sweating and huffing and puffing on the treadmill, I happily plunked my butt down and entered my workout on this website. I have told myself over and over to not get discouraged by other people's progress and accomplishments, but how can I help myself when I read entries like this... "Did a moderate run on the dreadmill... 6.3 miles in 50 minutes at a 7 minute 32 second pace".
Moderate, are they serious! It's right about now the numbers are swirling in my head. If you could have heard my thoughts they might have sounded just like this...That person just ran twice as fast as me and for almost twice as long and they called their workout moderate!
Either no one is actually dumb enough (well except me) to post running times that are so ridiculously slow as mine or I seriously need to rethink calling what I do running!

Hey Michelle...I know exactly how you feel when I trained for my marathon it never did get easier and the second the race was over so was my running. I have never really got back into it. I gained all my weight back and it makes me so dang mad. It was always the first mile or so and was the most difficult, but after that I got a burst of energy and it made the rest easier. Best of luck

Don't feel too bad...I don't even TRY to run. I walk, really fast, but I walk. So you are doing WAY better than me.

Guess what? I'm one of those mysterious people you hear about that CAN'T RUN. No seriously. It is not in my genetic code. Therefore I stick to the stuff that works for me - swimming laps, Richard Simmons workout videos and long walks. Don't be discouraged! Just find something that works for you.
