Fablehaven

I decided to get back into reading , but was overwhelmed when I went to the library and tried to figure out just what kind of books I was going to start reading. Derik recently heard some talk about the Fablehaven book series and checked them out. He is currently on the third book of the series and I just can't believe it. I don't think I have ever seen him finish a book little lone a series so I decided I had to read these books as well and see what has captured him enough that he actually finishes the books (and in a hurry).
I remember when I was younger that I loved to read Dean Koontz novels, even though they were extremely scary and way to adult for my young mind. There were nights I was so scared I didn't dare get out of my bed to turn out my light. After scaring myself silly, I moved on to and then fell in love with Mary Higgins Clark suspense novels and then eventually moved on to Fantasy. The last book I remember reading cover to cover was The Da Vinci Code, so it's been a while since I can claim to have finished a book.
I have shamelessly started a million other books along the way, but found my interest in the subjects dwindling, and the books were returned unfinished. I'm hoping to expand my intellect and my intelligence by reading a variety of everything and finishing what I start as well.

Fablehaven was a perfect start, It is a children's series so although the book looks big, it is a relatively quick read and enjoyable at that.

I have found a few blogs that recommend good books and I'm excited to start exercising my brain muscles again by reading a little of this and that. I would love a recommendation if any of you have one as well.
Here are a few books I'm hoping to get to read in the next little while.

Of course I want to finish reading the published books of the Fablehaven series as well as,

The Peacegiver by James L. Ferrell

These Is My Words by Nancy E. Turner

Have you read the Twilight series? I'm sure you've heard about it. I read the series while on bedrest last year, and I can honestly say that those books got me thru it. At first I wasn't really interested when Cheryl told me what it was about and how thick the book was. :} But once I started reading I seriously did NOT want to put it down! The movie comes out in December, so it would be perfect to read now.
