PMDD

Dear friends and family,
I think I finally figured out why I go coo-coo once a month.
Intense irritability (check...double check)
Intense sensitivity (check)
Intense Sadness (check!)
Anxiety (check)
Intense food cravings (check)
Feelings of being overwhelmed (check)
Sudden mood changes for no reason (check)
Teariness (check)

The cause of PMDD is not certain but appears related to hormonal changes that accompany the menstrual cycle.
Women with PMDD have an abnormal response to normal hormone levels and, thus, are differentially sensitive to their own hormone changes.

Now I think I know why I go a little crazy after having babies too.
I always knew I was a sensitive soul....

So if ever I'm weeping and crying and fretting, just know it's not you, it's me and my PMDD.

Seriously, there is total truth to that. I think that was going on with me during my teenage years and at least two of my pregnancies. Pretty bad some times, and not very fun. And when you realize what is happening, that it is an effect of what is happening in your body, it somehow makes it easier. You know you can just wait it out for a week and it'll be better instead of getting all worked up about why you aren't a sunshine person :)
