Sunshine...Glorious Sunshine

I would not be true to me if I didn't spout off on why sunshine makes me so happy. First of all I need the stuff to function, just ask me how productive I am on a gloomy day. I love sitting down and just absorbing it's warmth and life giving energy. I love everything associated with the sun, like flowers and gardens and summer and a good tan.Family
Each have added meaning to my life, each has enriched me in ways that only they could. Each one of them have tried, tested and irritated me to no end, but I'd be missing the most important aspect of life If I didn't recognize them as being the biggest blessing and sources of happiness in my life.Laughter

Whether it be Alivia and her tenacious and spunky personality, or Dylan who just, well... tells things like they are, I love to Laugh! I love hearing it, I love feeling it. I wish there was more laughter in my life.
As a child I refused to eat anything that had tomato's, peppers or onions in it. Who would have thought that it turns out happiness comes when you chop up the three of them and throw them together.

What has my life come to? I like to blame my vegetable like state on the winter season, and often wonder if I to go into hibernation for the winter. I do absolutely nothing all day long, and until Spring pops out in it's glorious beauty (and I can do something other than being trapped in the house all day), I live and thrive on reading about everyone's life.

Rare Moments

Any one who knows Derik, knows he's cheap. I'm down with his penny-pinching ways, it took a while to get used to his methods and reasoning, but I finally came to terms with them.
I remember one time a few years back when I was struggling with who we were as a couple, and the seemingly impossible barriers that stood between Derik and I. We had gone with our good friends Joe and Jenny to the movies. Before the movie began Derik and Joe made a run to the concessions stand and brought us back some popcorn. I Love Popcorn, I love it, and I could not believe that Derik had actually forked out money and bought me popcorn. I could not believe that he actually broke down and spent a little money recklessly in the name of making me happy.
My happiness was short lived, though when I found out JOE bought me the popcorn!
After rehearsing my story to Derik of my shattered hopes about the popcorn and in an attempt to drop a hint I told Derik that I'd love for him to do something special for me like buying me popcorn (after all it's the little things that make a marriage). He curtly told me he'd never buy me movie popcorn because it's such a waste of money!
Fast forward a few years to Valentine Day 2009.
Derik takes the kids and I to a movie and disappears just before the movie starts. He comes back with a huge bag of movie popcorn! My mouth hit the floor for so many reason. It took my seven years to break the man, but I could not help but giggle as I thought to myself "holy crap he should have saved his money, I was planning on popping a bowl of popcorn when we got home." I sat there and calculated how many bags of popcorn I could have bought for the price of one bag of movie popcorn (which isn't nearly as good as my home popped white cheddar popcorn). Despite the fact that Derik's cheapness has rubbed off on me I couldn't help but feel so giddy over a stupid bag of popcorn!

Oh I love gratitude posts! I agreed with all of your "things". Sunshine, family, laughter, and yes even popcorn. Although reading that story makes me want to take you out and spoil you rotten girlfriend. I have a soft spot for treating my friends to a good time. Maybe I need to take a lesson from the book of D?!
I love every one of your 6 things as well! Especially the sunshine one! And I loved the popcorn story!
So....I tried to post a comment and the comp kind of freaked out. I'll try again and hope it doesn't post twice.
I love the popcorn story. From everything you've told me about Derik I can see how that is a huge gesture for him. I hope you told him how much it meant...but only as long as he got extra butter! ;)
That is the sweetest post ever! Isn't it funny how our view of life changes?
