Several months ago I booked a flight out to Utah to join my mom and
my sisters for the Time Out for Women event that was being hosted in
Logan Utah.
I'd be lying if I didn't say that this trip and the excitement of it helped me get through a very long and lonely summer!
I
made sure I booked a window seat on my plane because the first thing I
wanted to see when I got to Utah were the Wasatch Mountains! They were
every bit as beautiful and lovely as I remembered them. I forgot my
camera so I googled the image below, it's pretty close to what I saw out the plane window. Oh how I miss my mountains!
My little Brother Nyles picked me up from the airport
and I finally got to meet his son and my nephew Kru. I left for Texas three days
before he was born. It was so sweet to finally see him, he was so
handsome and smiley and content. I don't know what it is about cute babies, I just want to squeeze them and kiss them senseless, he especially melted my heart when I'd look over and see him sucking his thumb.
We met up with my mom at a store in SLC. I had been anticipating the moment I would see my mom for a long time, I haven't seen her in almost a year and on top of missing her I had a surprise to share. I couldn't quite find the words I was looking for so I didn't say anything to her at first but after we hugged she patted my belly and asked if I was having a baby. I told her I was just fat from being lonely in Texas (because it's true) but then I folded and told her in addition to being fat, she was indeed going to be a grandma again.
We got to drop by and visit with my grandmother and my aunt as well, it was so nice to see everyone.
Later that evening I met up with the rest of my family at Red Robin for dinner. (Three of my siblings had just drove in from being in New Mexico for Balloon Fiesta). It was the first time in a year I was with all the members of my family and I tried to enjoy every second of it.
Heaven only knows when that will happen again.
Since I forgot my camera I'll finish blogging about the rest of my trip when my siblings are kind enough to share with me their photos of our time together.
I don't know if we'll ever move back to Utah or not, but I do know for sure that I'll always call it home and I'll always hope to move to a place that has mountains again. The mountains speak to my soul and I miss camping and hiking and the beauty of a mountain covered in fall foliage. I miss the chilly breezes and picnics and bonfires that always accompany a trip to the mountains.
While I will never miss the grey ugly days of winter in Utah, I'd take it all back just to be home again.
