Things nobody warned/prepared me for....
- Plan for a baptism, not a party. Other wise you end up like me, anxious, removed from the Spirit, and too busy and stressed to be be calm and organized.
- Ask family and friends for help. Other wise you spend the entire weekend before, cooking, cleaning and yelling at anyone in your way, at least that's how it was for me.
- Better yet forget all the cooking and cleaning and just have everyone meet at a restaurant after the baptism, trust me on this one it's a very good idea!
- Ask someone to be your photographer, so that you can actually have a picture of you and your child on their big day.
- Make time to be free, so that your photographer has a chance to get a picture of you and your child.
- Make sure everyone including and especially the people you've asked to give talks know the correct time of the baptism. Otherwise you find yourself in hysterics in the hallway because you might have to give an impromptu talk and you can't think straight.
- When a stake is hosting the baptism, everything is coordinated for you, which is wonderful. You may just want to inquire how many baptism are being done. We happened to have 6 this particular month. It made it a very long event and the potatoes that were in my oven an hour to long came out as shriveled rocks!
- If you have multiple children I recommend asking for help before the baptism, during the baptism and after the baptism, because you could (if your like me) get really, really, busy and lose track of one of them.

I think he and Carston were baptized on the same day :) And yes, I have no picture with him. And I forgot to reserve the pavillion at the park and showed up to find all the tables with tablecloths on them. And our musical number was horrendous and all of my girls sat down instead of singing. And Macy pounded on the piano while I played the closing song. And Avery went to the doctor for strep that night :) I'm glad I'm not the only one to have a crazy day :)
