Mother's Day

I had such a great Mother's Day! My children surprised me with all sorts of wonderful little notes and gifts. I was particularly fond of the notes they brought me home from primary, that read as follows....

My Mom is the Best!
My Mom makes the best...
Dylan's answer...Pizza
Alivia's answer...Pizza
I must make good Pizza it seems to be a unanimous vote.
If I could give my Mom anything I'd give her...
Dylan's answer...A Hug
Alivia's answer...A Snack
I'll take both please.
Three Words that Describe my Mom are...
Dylan's answer...Nice, Love, Pretty
Alivia's answer...Likes the baby, nice
I'm so flattered they could think of three nice words between the two of them.
My Mom's Favorite Food is...
Dylan's answer...Flaming Hot Cheetos
Alivia's answer...Pizza
I love just about all foods.
My Mom is Good at...
Dylan's answer...Yard Work
Alivia's answer...Making food
Two of my favorite passions.
I Love my Mom because...
Dylan's answer...She's Awesome
Alivia's answer...I do

Dylan also made me a book from school it was so sweet. He thanked me for making him food and for giving him Live (life). He wrote that I was the greatest because I give him hugs and kisses. He pledged to be good and helpful and to make me happy! He wrote that he was glad that he had me as a mom. There was the most beautiful poem in the back that brought tears to my eyes! And a lot of guilt to my heart. It spoke of mothers being angels, and all my children will attest to the fact that I am no angel!
If anything this Mother's Day was a humbling one as I contemplated my many short comings as a Mother. As I thought back on my own Mother and the love and patience she had for me, I started to realize just how much I need to learn and grow as a Mother, that I have a lot of work ahead of me before I'll be the kind of Mother I want to be.
I have fantastic kids, they challenge and try me and they are far from perfect (thanks to their imperfect mother), but they are wonderful souls. I wonder sometimes why God blessed me with them, when so many others out there are more qualified for the job and don't have children of their own. I guess it just means I need to step up to the plate and be a fantastic Mother because I was blessed with fantastic children!
I'm grateful for my Mom and her example of enduring love and patience. Happy Mother's Day Mom!
I'm grateful for Sisters (who are Mothers themselves now) who teach me by their example as well.
I'm lucky to have a great mom and I'm lucky to be a mom!

That was so sweet of both of them! I can not wait until Braxton starts bringing stuff like that home! You are a wonderful mother!
