Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. ~Albert CamusIt's sort of hard to believe that summers officially over. Can't say I did much with my free time, other than kill my garden, the poor thing. My tomato's got tomato wilt, I forgot to water my corn, and I only got three zucchini squash (I'm not even sure how I managed to get a zucchini plant to be so non-productive). The bugs ate every ounce of lettuce and chard I planted, and I have yet to see a bell pepper or eggplant. I did get about a dozen or so spaghetti squash, so I can't call my garden this year a total failure. Oh and the cherry tomato plant I planted just absolutely exploded, it's to bad no one around here wants any cherry tomato's (myself included)!
I've sort of been grounded to my house for the better part of the summer since Derik's car went to car heaven (although right now I know he's trying to miraculously fix it with nothing but his bare hands and a repair manual), I'm hoping we'll find one of these babies soon, so that maybe I'll feel a little less like a prisoner of my own home. It would be fun to be able to blog about going somewhere or doing something before I lose my mind from sitting around and going stir crazy.
On a lighter note (literally), the microwave blew up this morning! It started making these strange zapping like noises (which happened to make the microwave send off a glowing light that filled the kitchen) and then it started on fire. I'm not sure who will be more scarred by this event me or my kids. Alivia still doesn't want to go into the kitchen because of the scary microwave and my heart will probably forever beat a little faster every time I start up a microwave...
Dylan is enjoying school and Miss Livie and I are fast becoming best buds, she lets me nap and is content to just hang out and do nothing all day with me, sometimes I feel so lucky (and crappy), that she lets me get away with being such a dopey parent.
Derik is still training his heart out for his marathon this November, and I'm so amazed at all his hard work and effort. Someday I hope his determination and sheer will power will rub off on me, Heaven knows I'm lacking tremendously in these two departments!
I'm crossing my fingers that this Fall will bring many warm memories and a whole bunch of good luck!!!

Wow, it seems like you guys had quite the adventure! I don't I would turn on a microwave again without being scared either!
What do you know, I killed my corn too. Not quite sure how. And I hope you get a means of transportation, especially before the cold weather sets in. That is enough to make anyone miserable.
