January's Goals in Review

I am going to post monthly reviews of my goals so I have to be accountable to someone (or something). Maybe that way I will strive a little harder to get them accomplished.
  • Read the January Ensign from cover to cover.  Accomplished
  • Exercise 3 times a week.  I exercised 5 times out of the 9 times I was shooting for since I made this goal.
  • Read through my Sunday School and Relief Society lessons before Sunday.  Accomplished
  • Read one book.  Unaccomplished
  • Go to bed before 10:30 pm.  Did not do well on this.  This goal will carry on into February for sure.
  • Plan my garden, sketch it out.  Garden planned and sketched out in my mind so I'm giving myself an accomplished.
  • Read one chapter out of the children's Book of Mormon stories to my kids each Sunday evening. Goal Accomplished!
  • Study and ponder 1 Nephi.  Made it through 1 Nephi 16, following our Sunday School Schedule.  I found an interesting theme, which never dawned on me before.  Being righteous and faithful is hard.  Lehi was righteous and he had to leave a lifetime of belongings to toil in the desert with his family.  He had wayward children, who mocked him and caused him great grief.  Nephi was righteous and faithful, yet he endured brothers who were mean and at times murderous towards him.  He was told to go get the brass plates and even though the Lord commanded it and Nephi went willingly, things did not go smoothly for him.  It made me realize that even though we are commanded to do things and we do them willingly, does not exempt us from trials and growth.  Both Nephi and Lehi praised God despite their trials while being faithful!  The story of Lehi's dream had a lot more significance to me this time around as well.
  • Drink at least 3 mugs full of water a day. I struggled meeting this goal as well this month.  I downloaded an app on my phone that reminds me hourly to drink water and since then I have done much better.
  • Sit by and introduce myself to someone new at Church.  Accomplished
  • Start Live the Life again.  I have had a very hard time convincing myself to buckle down and get serious about my diet.  I will definitely be putting this back down on February's Goals, since I didn't start this month.

Hey, I say great job! Sounds like life is off to a good start down there. You deserve it. :) And thanks for your perspective of 1 Nephi. That turned on a few lights for me too.
